Change of plans - I will release a different project on 17 January 2022.
I will release my lofi EP on 17 January 2022. The Hi-Lofi Chronicles. I’ve always loved lofi hip hop and this is my own take on this beautifully soothing genre.
This date is of particular significance to me because it is the day we had my late dad’s 1st year memorial. 17 January 2021. It should have been 15 November 2020 but we couldn’t travel to Nigeria because of the COVID restrictions at the time. He passed on 13 August 2019. A GREAT man. Barrister Prince Matthias Syles Okwuobasi Nwokeji.
It’s also the date I released my very FIRST single ‘Oceans’. 17 January 2021.
I had planned to release Obianuju on that date but its not ready yet. I’ve rearranged it, and rewritten some of the lyrics, but ive decided to get some female background vocals on it. I reckon it will give it an extra kick. Plus I still can’t settle my solo. 🙄
I’m also thinking of reworking my old track called ‘Trouble’. A song I wrote years ago but can’t seem to let go. I will finish another track ‘Oh my baby’ and then roll them into an EP/ album with previously released singles ‘Who Gave the Order, Long time Ago’ and ‘Wetin I I do’.
These songs have a distinct Afro soul/pop vibe and belong together in the same project, body of work.
‘Oceans’ and ‘You Don’t Know’are more Rnb/Soul type songs. I’ve come to realise that I write two kinds of songs. Afrosoul/pop and Rnb/Soul. I also like to write about love and relationships a lot. I’ve always been a sucker for a good love song.
‘Lets Do it Again’ -Staple Sisters, ‘Lets get it on’ - ‘Marvin Gaye and ‘I get that Sweetest Feeling’ by Jackie Wilson are 3 songs I could listen back to back on repeat forever. 😁
